I went to the doctors on 8th April and weighed 15 stone 13 lbs, with a BMI of over 39. I started my Mounjaro journey on 17th April.
It’s now August, and after four months my weigh-in is 12 stone 2 lbs, and that’s including having a week off from the jab while I was away on holiday.
I’ve managed to drop the coffees with four sugars (at least 10 cups per day) and switched from full-fat milk to semi-skimmed. Instead of comfort eating, I’m eating more sensibly: eggs (poached or boiled), grilled tomatoes, chicken, and steak. If I fancy something, I’ll have it, but in a smaller portion, so I try to stick to my calorie deficit.
I’m made up with the weight loss and my BMI going down to 31, although there’s still a bit to go. As I suffer with mental health issues, I was wary at first, but I’ve felt no worse. I’m not better, but I haven’t been suicidal like I was before. I’m hoping the weight loss and beginning to feel healthier will keep me on this path towards a healthier body and, hopefully, a healthier mind.
If this was available on the NHS, I think it would benefit a lot of people stuck in the same rut as myself, and maybe reduce the need for other medications such as statins, blood pressure meds, antidepressants, and anxiety meds. I’m not cured of my ailments, but it is helping me manage them, as well as my weight.
